Creating Exams

ExamBuilder supports 2 exam templates:

1. Certification generally used for licensing, certifications and high stakes assessments.
2. Click and Learn is typically used for continuing education, pre-testing and non-critical assessment programs.

Randomization

• ExamBuilder delivers all questions to the student in random order
• Multiple-choice answers are scrambled to ensure the integrity of the results
• You can draw a percentage of the total questions you create to further randomize the exam

Customizable Properties

Each exam has customizable properties:

• Instructions
• Passing score
• Time limit
• Access codes
• Show/hide exam score

After an exam is submitted for grading, students enter a Post Exam Section with additional elements that can be customized or toggled off:

• An exam review where you can show students the questions they answered incorrectly
• A Gap Analysis Report that grades the student in each category of the exam and provides a learning plan for improvement in deficient areas
• Instructor feedback based on whether the student passed or failed the exam

Question Pools

Questions can be categorized into "Question Pools"; groups of questions that are usually based on a similar topic.

Question Pools offer the following advantages:

• ExamBuilder can draw a designated number of questions out of each pool to make up the exam
• You can generate statistical reports on how an individual did in each Question Pool
• You can generate statistical reports on how groups of people (i.e., a sales region) did in each Question Pool
• You can create gap analysis reports for students based on their grade in each Question Pool

• Web-based forms make entering questions effortless
• Images such as graphs or charts can be easily uploaded and displayed with the question
• Question ordering is automatically randomized during the exam
• Multiple choice answers are automatically scrambled during the exam
• You can search by question text, question type or question pool
• You can print specific categories of the exam or the exam in its entirety
• You can randomly draw a designated number of questions out of the total created to generate your exam

Automated Tasks

ExamBuilder has automated features to save you time:

• Auto Retakes. Students who fail an exam can be automatically scheduled for a retake
• Email invitations. The system can alert students via email that they are scheduled to take an exam
• Self registration. New students can create their own ExamBuilder account
• Instructor notifications. You can create a list of staff members for each exam who receive emails whenever a student completes an exam
• Auto schedule. You can configure ExamBuilder to automatically schedule everyone in your account for designated exams

Scheduling Exams

ExamBuilder provides multiple scheduling options:

• Bulk Schedule entire groups of people with 1 click
• Individual Scheduling
• Manually schedule a student for an exam
• View student's history spanning all attempts
• Delete specific exam attempts
• Add time to an exam
• Bulk Unscheduling - removes scheduled exams that are ready to be archived

As well as easy to read tables showing who's scheduled and who's not:

• Display all students who failed their last attempt
• Show all students who have an exam in progress
• Icons alert you to students who have never been scheduled

Managing Students

ExamBuilder makes it very easy to:

• Create individual student accounts
• Group students by sales region or department
• Move students in and out of groups (classes)

Quick Reports

ExamBuilder provides 5 Quick Reports:

1. Snapshot Report. Query the system for all students in a sales region who passed or failed an exam within a designated time period
2. Certification Report. Display all students who passed a group of exams
3. Class Analysis Report. How did one sales region or vendor perform compared to the others?
4. Date Range Report. Brings back all results within a time period.
5. In Progress Report. Alerts you to all students who didn't compete an exam yet

• Shows the most recent results as they come in!

• Provide an easy view into a student's exam history
• Allow you to filter by last attempts or all completed attempts
• Exam Reviews allow you to print the student's exam
• Detailed Student Reports display statistical analysis of a student's performance including:
• Scoring in each question pool
• Comparison to the aggregate mean, median and high/low score
• Result on each question answered

Aggregate Exam Reports

These statistical reports are based on how all your students performed.

• Filter by specific sales regions, vendors, or other groups
• Also filter by exam attempt, 1st, 2nd or all attempts

Question Ranking Reports

• Shows the percent of students who answered each question correctly and incorrectly
• Displays the total number of responses per question

Question Pool Reports

• Displays how your students scored in each question pool or category

Multiple Choice Reports

• Does an item analysis of each multiple choice answer. What percent of students clicked on a,b,c, etc.?
